The International Article Number (EAN), is also called European Article Number EAN13. It is widely used in retail business throughout Europe.
EAN13 barcode encodes 12 digits of numeric data and a check digit. What EAN13 encodes is also called GTIN13.

When its number system (first two digits) is either 45 or 49, it is known as Japanese Article Number (JAN). JAn is used in retail busienss of Japan.

EAN13 could have either 2-digits or 5-digits supplemental barcode on the right side.
